Business as usual

April 22, 2010

Butler County Community College held its regularly scheduled Board of Trustee meeting yesterday at BC3 @ Cranberry.  At the meeting, the Board unanimously voted that the College supports the Butler County Board of Commissioners’  lawsuit against the County Controller by becoming a voluntary plaintiff.

To reiterate, the Board and I have confidence in the legal suit that has been filed. As I stated last week, we should be going about all aspects of the College with a “business as usual” approach. Read the rest of this entry »

Press Conference Follow-Up

April 9, 2010

The purpose of this post is to provide a follow-up from our press conference/college-wide gathering held on Thursday, April 8, 2010.

I appreciate all of the comments that endorsed the Butler County Board of Commissioners’ support of BC3. Futhermore, heartfelt appreciation to our students and facutly who made comments supporting the Board of Commissioners and the College.

The reality of the situation is sincere; however, it is our expectation that this funding issue will be resolved through the legal process. Read the rest of this entry »

Super Bowl XLIV

February 4, 2010

Last time this year, the Steelers were already crowned Super Bowl XLIII Champions! Boy, does time fly. Although it will hardly be the same this Super Bowl Sunday, please offer your predictions for the game.

Mine is: Steelers 35, Staints 31. Oops – wishful thinking. How about this? Colts 35, Saints 31.

Make sure you do your homework ahead of the big game! Enjoy – even minus the Steelers!

Fall Open House

More info on the Open House.

This Thursday, Main Campus will hold its Annual Fall Open House.  This will be the first Open House in which we can show off the Student Success Center.  I am sure the reviews will be just like the others since the building opened this summer.  People simply love the new addition to our Main Campus!

Record attendance for this event has occurred over the last two years.  I expect much the same for this year’s version.  Students and parents are eager to ask our excellent faculty and staff a variety of questions.  We are more than happy to answer such inquiries and provide whatever assistance is needed. March Madness

March 26, 2009

March Madness – a time college basketball fans crave.  Area teams were well-represented in the National Collegiate Athletic Association Tournament.  Pitt, Robert Morris, and West Virgina made the NCAA’s, while Penn State and Duquesne earned National Invitation Tournament berths.

I know of BC3 students who have used their credits to transfer to each of these universities.  Great picks if I might say so myself.  Read the rest of this entry »

True to Our Mission

December 19, 2008

Dear Students,

You may have recently read or heard that Butler County Community College suffered a $1 million operating budgetary cut from Butler County – our local sponsor.  While a cut this size is never good news, frankly we were not surprised given these economic times.

As President of BC3, I want to ensure each of you that we will always remain true to our mission of “affordable and accessible education… in an environment that values integrity, diversity and excellence.” Read the rest of this entry »
