It is with great enthusiasm that I share with you the 2013 President’s Timeline.
This is the second edition of the new, online format and replaces the printed President’s Annual Reports. The timeline chronicles BC3’s achievements and successes of the past year. So many of you are represented here, along with your programs, awards and news stories. I am sure you will enjoy the live links to photos, videos and news articles.
You can share this with your friends, family and business colleagues.
Finally, please feel free to let me know what you think by using the Feedback tab on the timeline. Please email me directly should you have other questions, comments or concerns.

On August 1, 2007, I was appointed as President of Butler County Community College. Immediately afterwards, I was interviewed by media outlets and spoke to internal and external College stakeholders.
During those conversations, I boasted about BC3 being a “student-centered” institution. Upon further reflection, I pondered, “what do I mean by a student-centered college?”
I am proud to say we’ve answered that very questions. Our 2010-2015 Strategic Plan has an initiative that concentrates entirely on Student Centeredness. Among ways we focus on our student in the Plan include: increasing access to more online classes and programs, providing various activities and clubs and even looking into student housing.
Recently, a new point of emphasis has emerged at BC3: how do we treat potential or even current students outside of the classroom? In other words, before we get to the point of worrying about being a “student-centered” institution, what are we doing to ensure a “customer” becoming a “student” and sticks around through graduation? Where oh where has the fall semester of 2013 gone?
As final exams are concluding, the holiday season draws upon us. I, for one, will count my blessings. Here’s several that I appreciate:
Family – Without their support, I just couldn’t do my job.
Colleagues – I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again – blue-collar, hard working and dedicated summarize our terrific faculty and staff.
Students – You are the motivation in all we do. We strive for affordable, accessible and quality education with you in mind. Read the rest of this entry »

(L to R): Adam Smith, SVA President; Ian Schuelke, SVA Officer, Commander Richard Riley, American Legion Post 778; Jason Brannon, SVA Officer; Nick Neupauer, BC3 President; Case Willoughby, Vice President for Student Services; and Kyle Bodkin, SVA Officer in front of the Memorial Banner at the Veterans Lounge Grand Opening.
As the history of Butler County Community College is eventually told, the fall of 2013 will forever be known as our semester of “ribbon cuttings” and “grand openings.”
On September 17, the College announced a partnership with Butler Armco Credit Union when it opened a fully-functional branch in our Student Success Center on main campus. The Armco Credit Union branch employs students from our Business Division and is open to staff, students and community members. The space is state-of-the-art with technology, private meeting space and serves as a natural compliment to our “one-stop-shop” approach. Read the rest of this entry »

Where has the summer gone? How ’bout those Battlin’ Buccos?
Can you believe the start of another academic year is just a few days away?
Today, the College held its annual Convocation. It was great to see faculty and staff. I always enjoy providing a “State of the College” presentation. I have so much to be thankful for as President of BC3. Our faculty and staff are second to none!
Tomorrow is freshman “Welcome Day” on our Main Campus. Several hundred people will attend. This year, the event has expanded. We will use several different buildings and provide tons of important information. Many parents will attend, too. Read the rest of this entry »
